Laviana

Fran and Peña Mea

Peña Mea: This attractive rocky mountain can be seen clearly from Pola de Laviana.

Laviana is a district surrounded by mountains and forests. It links to the North with Bimenes and Nava, to the South with Aller, to the West with Mieres and San Martin del Rey Aurelio, and to the East with Piloña and Sobrescobio.

Laviana is right on the edge of the Parque Natural de Redes Reserva de la Biosfera and was declared a natural park in 1996. It is a very beautiful, environmentally rich area defined by its high mountains, vast wooded slopes, clean fast flowing rivers, tiny stone housed villages steeped in tradition and impressive limestone defiles.
